Beowulf

I had read Beowulf a couple of years ago and had remembered what the story was about, well parts of it. But still forgetting how difficult it could be to read and how by it being a poem when they switch subjects it can be a little complex to differ from one part to another. But in the end I think that I truly got more out of the story my second time reading it.
I think that this story was one on how people can assume so much in life. Well how Beowulf came to save the day in all of his glory, and everyone was really behind him thanking him for coming and all even though on person had some doubts about his ability to handle the situation even him, hisself had some doubts. It really showed how when you truly think something fixed a new problem comes along and can be at times tougher than the first problem. Grendals mom shows that there is always that bigger, badder problem hiding in the closet ready to come out.
I think that people everywhere are very similar even years ago. I feel like the Anglo- Saxens are like the people of today they believe the hype. When Beowulf came and said he was going to this amazing thing by killing Grendal everyone believed him, even though there may have been some skeptics, he looked like the real thing so everyone went for it. It's like commercials today they tell you they do all these amazing things, so you go out and buy it and it does nothing like it says it does, it was just that hype. I feel like Hereot was a club or a bar of today. People go there to relax to enjoy themselves, to drink and just have a good time. To get away from the stresses of today. I feel lik ethey are like us because there are always those people who are going to call you out and say what they think. Like when Hrothgar protectors of the Danes called out Beowulf saying that he did not believe he could do from what had happened to him in his past. I feel that there is always that one negative person doubting someones abilitys. I feel when Beowulf apologized for letting Grendal go, he was showing everyone that even heros make mistakes.
I feel like they showed the anglo-saxo culture thorough Beowulf by showing how everyone makes mistakes and has doubts. That nothing is always truly fixed when you think it is and even heros can be conquered by something truly unexpected. I feel that everyone and everything has its human nature to it by being vulnerable, even Superman has his Kryptonite.
I feel that this story relates to Superman because every now and then even the super hero has problems and even though everyone around him may think not he does. I feel like even our modern day heros have there weakness and may eventually fall to demise.
I truly hate when Beowulf is conquered by the dragon it truly shows that everyone has there day and that you should never expect perfection, ever story does not end in happily ever after. I fell like sometimes people need a little reality. The good guy doesn't always win.
